The Level Crossing

"The Level Crossing Community Interest Company was established in 2012 as a social enterprise with 2 very important aims - attracting new visitors to Llandovery and encouraging local employment and training opportunities. Over the past 12 months, with the help of our generous funders and committed volunteers, our builders have transformed the redundant North Western pub into a modern building providing affordable accommodation and bistro-style food"

In March 2012, The Level Crossing CIC approached Darkin Architects to assist them in converting the former North Western Hotel in Llandovery into a Bunkhouse (similar to a youth hostel). Working within the existing layout of the building where possible, this made the project a challenging spatial design exercise. The scheme will also benefit from a state of the art solar hot water heating system to aid in the reduction of its CO2 footprint.
